Belgrade - Itar-Tass
The widow of the former Yugoslav President, Joseph Broz Tito, has been taken to an intensive care ward of the Belgrade clinical center in serious condition. Doctors say she’s suffering from septic fever (blood poisoning) and dehydration. “The disease is at an advanced stage and the blood tests are not optimistic” the clinic said in a report released on Friday. Doctors who had examined Jovanka Broz found no signs of a heart attack. There were bed sores on her body and a chest wound of an unknown origin. Jovanka Broz has almost no reaction to external irritants. Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, who has already visited Tito’s widow in hospital, is refusing to give any comments. Jovanka Broz was born in 1924. She married Joseph Broz Tito in 1952 and stayed with him until his death in 1980. The widow of the eternal Yugoslav leader was a witness and direct participant in many historical events. She now lives in seclusion in her home in Belgrade’s elite district and seldom meets journalists.
