In a major step towards facilitating services for the special needs people, the Emirates Identity Authority has launched an interactive online application on its facebook pages aimed at easing the burden of people with hearing and visual impairment in their transactions with Emirates ID, the application uses both braille and sign languages.
This is part of the ‘El Khair Huwiyati’ initiative that the Authority had launched on the occasion of Ramadan and as part of its participation in the activities of the Zayed Humanitarian Day. It provides a detailed description on all the services offered by the Authority, in addition to allowing the users to make enquiries, lodge complaints or make observations through voice message, videotaped sign language communication or a written message.
The application has been designed in an extremely user-friendly manner. The Emirates ID has a huge following on social media platforms, numbering well over 180,000.
