The Bank of Italy said it is blocking all credit card transactions in the Vatican because the city-state does not meet EU banking standards, officials said. The ban means tourists' admission fees to enter Vatican museums -- along with food and other expenses -- will need to be paid in cash, Corriere della Sera said Wednesday. Debit cards can still be used. A Vatican spokesman said he hoped the credit card restriction would be brief and expressed optimism the banking issues could be resolved.
