Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) Yehia Abul Fotouh denied that the National Bank of Egypt in London sent letters to its clients to withdraw their savings and close their bank account.
In statements to MENA on Monday, Abul Fotouh said the bank in London is an independent entity and realizes high profits.
He said such rumors are meant to smear the bank's reputation.
In statements to MENA, Hussein Refaie, the Group Chief Financial Officer of National Bank of Egypt, denied the closure of any accounts in the NBE London branch .
Some websites spread rumors that the NBE branch in London sent letters to its clients to swiftly go to the bank to withdraw their savings and deposits.
