French engineering company, Technip, in partnership with China''''s HuanQuiu Contracting (HQC), has been awarded a contract by Basra Gas Company (BGC) for front-end engineering and design and construction of a Natural Gas Liquids production train on the North Rumaila field in Basra Province. Technip said in a statement Thursday that the project is the first of a series of "Greenfield" processing units that will handle associated gas and minimise gas flaring on Iraqi oil fields. The NGL train to be built by Technip and HQC will have a nominal gas feed capacity of 530 million cubic feet per day and the facility will produce Liquefied Petroleum Gas, NGLs and condensate and will make more energy resources available for power and home use. Technip is responsible for engineering and design, procurement and construction of the facility in a standard EPC package. Work will be managed from Technip''''s operating centre in Abu Dhabi and it is due for completion by the end of this year. BGC, which contracted the work to the Franco-Chinese partnership, is composed of Iraq South Gas Company (51 percent), Shell (44 percent) and Mitsubishi (5 percent).
