The price of a barrel of crude oil added 55 cents overnight to $97.21 per barrel Wednesday on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Crude oil took a cue from equity markets, which rebounded Tuesday with the Dow Jones industrial average closing at nearly a five-year high.
Natural gas gained 3.2 cents to $3.302 per million British thermal units.
Gasoline fell 2.37 cents to $3.0963 a gallon.
Home heating oil dropped 0.08 cents to $3.1792 a gallon.
At the pump, the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline added 1.8 cents to $3.766 Wednesday, the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report said.
