Cairo - MENA
Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed Tayeb on Tuesday said there is "an urgent need for a faithful and serious review" to some concepts of the Islamic heritage.
"Muslim Youths should be educated in a way to immunize them from extremist groups," he said, addressing the 2nd Annual Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies Conference.
He urged Muslim scholars to work together to distance Islam from extremist groups.
Tayeb called on education officials in the Arab world to adopt a "unified curriculum" to correct and put an end to false interpretations of Islam.
