Divers have raised what is believed to be the largest rock found so far from a meteorite that exploded over Russia in February, Russian officials said Friday. A spokesman for the town of Chebarkul, near the Urals lake where the 10 1/2-pound rock was retrieved, said the rock is \"the largest [piece] found so far\" of the meteorite that broke up over the Chelyabinsk Region, RIA Novosti reported. A resident found a 7 1/2-pounds piece of the meteorite in late August. Divers have been trying to retrieve a large fragment believed to weigh several hundred pounds, RIA Novosti said. The meteorite exploded over Russia Feb. 15, injuring 1,500 people, mostly from glass blown out by the concussion created by the explosion.
