Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, has said that the ministry’s launch of "Zayed Al Khair Convoy" reflects the pride in following the footsteps of the Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Sheikh Nahyan said, "The convoy is a true reflection of the culture of goodness and the act of giving, derived from our Arab and Islamic identity, upon which the vision of our nation is based. It promotes the act of giving, according to the 3 key pillars of the year of giving: Corporate Social Responsibility, Volunteering and Serving the nation."
The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, through the "Zayed Al Khair Convoy" to be launched from 19th to 20th October, will deliver its cultural, intellectual and community services to various segments of society. More than 80 partners from local, federal and private bodies will be participating in the convoy, which will be home to 90 pavilions and more than 140 various activities, events and programmes.
Sheikh Nahyan further explained that the convoy, over the course of 2 days, will work on the promotion of the sense of social responsibility in serving ones nation and participating in its future development. The convoy will also work on spreading the concept of giving across various age and social groups, to promote values of social responsibility and spread cultural, intellectual and knowledge awareness.
"This convoy, which proudly carries the name of the founding father, will be home to numerous cultural and community activities including medical checkups, theatrical plays, folk and heritage events, poetic evenings, cultural competitions, training courses, discovery of creative talents, works by productive families, supplying schools with books, in addition to a large number of children entertainment activities. A group of UAE artists will also be present on the convoy to meet and greet visitors," continued Sheikh Nahyan.
He added, "Zayed Al Khair Convoy is a chance to promote and deliver the ministry’s cultural and knowledge services and programmes to the people of Al Ain city, such as The Book Bank Initiative, Artist In-Residence Programme, Supporting Young Authors Programme, in addition to various printing, publishing and theatre services."
Sheikh Nahyan lauded the ministry’s partners for their keenness in supporting the convoy and invited families and school and university students to participate in the events to make use of the various services and programmes especially designed for them.
