Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, on Saturday honoured 30 Islamic calligraphers for reproducing a complete copy of the Holy Quran during a three-day calligraphy event.
The calligraphers who hail from 11 Arab and Muslim countries handed over the copy of the divine scripture they meticulously reproduced by hand to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, at the conclusion of its three-day sixth edition of Ramadan Forum for Quran Calligraphy, for assessment and proofreading.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak described the reproduction of a copy of the complete Holy Quran by hand in such a short time as an achievement that U.A.E. is proud of, and as an honour for the calligraphers themselves.
He commended the interest of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in such initiatives that affirms the value of national culture which revolves around Arabic language.
Sheikh Nahyan also hailed the participation of women in this year's calligraphy event alongside men where they proved they are not less skilled in this Islamic art.
