The 26th African Union Summit opened here on Saturday, with the participation of Egypt's Abdel Fattah El Sisi along with a host of African leaders.
The two-day summit is being held under the theme: "2016: African Year of Human Rights with a particular focus on the Rights of Women".
Sisi's participation in the African Summit comes as part of Egypt's keenness on activating its ties with the various African countries, promoting its participation in the joint African action and settling conflicts in Africa and enhancing social and economic development.
The Addis Ababa summit will discuss governance-related issues, elections and abiding by constitutional principles along with funding the AU.
The summit will tackle the report of Abdel Fattah El Sisi in his capacity as coordinator of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change, mainly the outcome of the World Climate Change Summit held in Paris on December.
The summit will also endorse the outcome of elections of members of the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council (PSC), after Egypt's winning of this council membership during the elections held at the Executive Council of Ministers of the AU.
