Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan (R)

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, on Friday received Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and members of the delegation accompanying him during a visit to the UAE.

The visit is part of close fraternal cooperation between the two brotherly countries and their peoples.

Welcoming the Egyptian minister and delegation, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah extended congratulations on the occasion of the anniversary of Egypt's 23rd July 1952 Revolution.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral political, economic and development relations and ways to promote and expand these relations to wider avenues of strategic cooperation and coordination to serve the interests of both countries and their peoples, particularly in the light of the regional circumstances requiring joint efforts and an effective pan-Arab strategy that can counter various challenges, in particular those relating to fighting terrorism and extremist ideology.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah reiterated the UAE's political and economic backing for Egypt and the right of its people to development, growth and stability.

He noted that Egypt is a pillar of stability and safety valve for the Middle East region due to its strategic and security weight, which makes supporting this country even more important at this crucial stage.

The two sides exchanged views on the current regional and international developments. They also discussed a number of issues of common concern and held consultations about the situation and the political and security developments in Yemen and their two countries' support for the legitimacy in Yemen; the crisis in Syria; the developments in Iraq and Libya; and the combined efforts to combat the growing danger of terrorism in Arab countries.
