Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit discussed with Brazilian Foreign Minister Jose Serra how to develop cooperation between the Arab and Brazilian sides in the coming period.
Abul Gheit's statements came at the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York city Tuesday.
Spokesman for the AL secretary general Mahmoud Afifi said Abul Gheit underscored the importance of building on good political relations in order to boost economic and trade cooperation.
Abul Gheit said there are promising chances for enhancing trade cooperation, citing the volume of Arab-Brazilian trade exchange reached about 26 billion dollars in 2015, according to the spokesman.
Serra, on his part, said Brazil is very interested in promoting ties with Arab countries in general and backing Arab issues, said Afifi.
