Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Essam Fayed met on Saturday with Director of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Office in Cairo Abdel Haq Hanafi to follow up the implementation of a project to promote marketing skills of small farmers in the Egyptian countryside.
During the meeting, the agriculture minister praised the role of IFAD in Egypt especially in the fields of combating poverty, improving the income of small farmers as well as raising the social and economic levels of citizens.
The minister said he agreed with IFAD on implementing a new project in Siwa, Matrouh governorate, noting that IFAD mission has already visited the area and said that the project would help increase the farmlands along with animal production.
