Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit held discussions with Counter-terrorism Coordinator at the European Union (EU) Gilles de Kerchove.
The discussions took up means of promoting Arab-European cooperation in the field of combating terrorism during the coming phase.
During the meeting, the European official discussed the contacts he held with various parties to overcome terrorist groups, said spokesman for the AL chief Mahmoud Affify.
The contacts tackled the movements of the extremist organizations in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen.
He further said that the EU looks forward to boosting cooperation with the AL in this regard within the framework of the strategic dialogue between the two sides, the spokesman underlined.
For his part, Abul Gheit stressed the AL's keenness to coordinate with the EU taking into consideration the unprecedented increase of terrorist attacks and activities of extremist groups in the whole world including European countries.
