Cairo - Arab Today
Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby took part in the first meeting of the world humanitarian consultative council under the sponsorship of UAE Deputy President and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohamed ben Rashed al Maktoum.
The statute of the council was approved during the meeting.
Araby underlined the importance of collective humanitarian action at the current stage to face humanitarian disasters and crises, the Arab League said in a statement.
He suggested that the UN would announce an international declaration or an agreement for the protection against humanitarian disasters.
He said a round-table meeting was held during the council to discuss engaging the private sector into collective humanitarian action.
He made it clear that setting up a crisis room at the pan-Arab body aims at standing on the crises facing the Arab region and ways of handling them.
