Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb has pressed for an action to put an end to the suffering of the Muslim minority in Myanmar and to secure all their rights as citizens of the Asian country.
Tayyeb, in a meeting with the ambassador of Myanmar to Egypt Sunday, said Al Azhar is willing to meet with effective youth and religious leaders of Myanmar in a bid to ease the tension and narrow the gap of dispute there.
But that meeting should have tangible outcome that leads to ending the oppression against the Muslim citizens of Myanmar and to launching a comprehensive and lasting peace among all sects of the Asian country, Tayyeb stressed.
The diplomat posted Tayyeb on the situation in Myanmar and appreciated Al Azhar's concern and keenness to end the tension in his country.
