Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received Sunday his visiting Eritrean counterpart Osman Saleh.

The visit aims at following up consultations on the bilateral and regional files, the Foreign Ministry's spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

Saleh's visit has special importance amid the historic and close ties binding the two countries, Abu Zeid said.

He highlighted Egypt's interest in boosting ties with Eritrea to meet the two peoples' aspirations.
