Egyptian Minister of Agriculture Essam Fayed and German Minister for Food and Agriculture Christian Schmidt have discussed the full activation of Egyptian-German partnership to develop the agricultural sector in cooperation with Arab Organization for Industrialization and the Ministry of Military Production to manufacture agricultural machinery.
This came during a meeting involving Egyptian and German delegations in the presence of Egypt's Ambassador in Germany Badr Abdel Aati which was held on the sidelines of the activities of the 9th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) currently held in Berlin.
Fayed said that the Egyptian-German talks tackled means to promote aspects of cooperation in the research fields along with technological support to combat plant and animal diseases and make genetic improvement in both domains.
During the meeting, Egypt and Germany initially agreed on a draft agreement in the field of food safety, he said.
The meeting took up Egyptian-German aspects of cooperation in accordance with a strategic plan set by the Ministry of Agriculture as part of Egypt's plan for sustainable development, said Fayed.
On the sidelines of the GFFA, Fayed discussed means to activate Egyptian bilateral cooperation with his counterparts from Cyprus, Hungary, Slovenia, Czech, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Palestine, Spain and Brazil along with chairman of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
