Egypt's Ambassador in Sudan Osama Shaltout conferred on Sunday with North Darfur State Governor Abel Wahid Youssef on bilateral cooperation and means of bolstering them in all domains so as to achieve common interests of the Nile basin states.
In statements to MENA, Shaltout said the meeting took up the security conditions in Darfur, Egypt's support of the African state in honing the skills of Darfuris in the fields of health and education.
The ambassador also said they discussed means of buttressing joint cooperation especially after the inauguration of Qastal-Ashkeet border crossing which helped in beefing up the volume of trade exchange and persons transfer.
He also said Argeen port in the Halayeb-Shalateen Triangle will also be inaugurated soon and coincides with the convocation of the joint Egyptian-Sudanese Higher Committee to be chaired by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Sudanese counterpart Omar al-Bashir.
Shaltout said Argeen port will contribute to increasing trade and economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
Darfur governor also praised Egypt's support of Sudan at regional and international fora based on the historic relations binding the two countries.
Shaltout also highlighted security and stability of North Darfur and current preparations for the administrative referendum on the state's rule.
