Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam has underlined the importance otf cooperation among religious leaderships to solve current crises in the world.
Understanding religion rightly needs specialists who can comprehend texts and are well aware of the status quo, said Allam at talks with Pope Francis during his official visit to the Vatican.
During the trip, Allam participated in several important activities which aim at rectifying the tarnished image of Islam.
Allam said Egypt is supporting efforts exerted by Pope Francis to spread peace and love worldwide, Egypt's Iftaa House said in a statement on Saturday about the Mufti's visit to the Vatican.
For his part, Pope Francis asserted to Allam that he is proud of Egypt as key country in the region, highlighting the necessity of promoting religious cooperation between the Vatican and religious institutions in Egypt.
The Mufti said Egypt's Iftaa House rejects all forms of violence and terrorism committed in the name of religion.
Acts carried out by the terrorist group, named "Daesh" are not allowed in any belief or religion.
While in the Vatican, Allam reviewed the Iftaa House's strenuous efforts to confront extremist thoughts.
