Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah called on Wednesday for better cooperation between Singapore and Palestine, as he welcomed Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in the Premier’s office in Ramallah.
"Your country is a pioneer in the field of vocational training; we could learn a great deal from you,"Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) quoted Hamdallah as saying.
The two Prime Ministers discussed future cooperation between Singapore and Palestine in several areas, especially in vocational training and water desalination.
"In Gaza, there is a water shortage," Hamdallah added. "We consider Singapore a model in the field of desalination and we hope to benefit from your experience in water management." During the meeting, Lee announced that Singapore will increase its enhanced technical assistance package to the State of Palestine from five million US dollars to ten. He also reiterated his support for the two-state-solution for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, calling for an amicable and negotiated settlement between the two parties.
