Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Mahamed Abdel Atti met Thursday with Malawian Minister of Irrigation, Agriculture and Water Development George Chaponda and his accompanying delegation, currently visiting Egypt.
The two sides discussed means of promoting joint cooperation in the fields of managing water resources and irrigation.
Chaponda expressed his country's appreciation for the support offered by Egypt in number of domains topped by the agriculture field, saying that Malawi looks forward to boosting joint cooperation amid the challenges facing it especially after witnessing drought over the past years.
For his part, Abdel Atti said that Egypt has great experience in dealing with drought and benefiting from limited water resources.
He underlined also Egypt's keenness on responding to the requirements of development in Malawi via sending number of experts in the domain of irrigation and managing water, noting that the experts will hone the skills of the Malawian technical cadres.
Meanwhile, the Malawian ambassador here said that a MoU was inked between Egypt and Malawi in 2006, calling for upgrading it to cover all aspects of cooperation.
