US Secretary of State John Kerry met on Sunday with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on the fringe of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, currently held in New York.

They stressed the importance of coordinating efforts to fight Daesh terrorist group.

He noted that US President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will convene Monday over the Syrian crisis in a bid to keep the country united and stable without intervention of foreign forces.
