Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh on Sunday discussed with UN envoy Staffan de Mistura the latest developments in Syria, the political transition in the country and the Geneva talks.
Judeh and De Mistura highlighted the need to ensure the success of the talks scheduled to be held between the Syrian government and the opposition in Geneva next Wednesday to achieve political solution in Syria, according to Petra News Agency on Sunday.
Judeh reiterated Jordan's stance, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis that preserves the country's security and unity.
He stressed the importance of achieving a comprehensive political solution based on UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and Geneva 1 resolutions as well as the statements issued by the International Syria Support Group during its meetings in Vienna, New York and recently in Munich.
The foreign minister said Jordan was committed, under the Jordanian monarch's leadership, to supporting efforts that aim at achieving a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
The UN envoy voiced keenness to continue coordination and consultations with Jordan and thanked the Kingdom for its continued support to efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria
