Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has had a 90-minute meeting with visiting US National Security Adviser John Bolton, a TASS correspondent reports.
The consultations were held behind closed doors, with the side making no statements either before or after the meeting.
Earlier in the day, Bolton had talks with Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev. Later on, the US security official is planned to meet with Russian president’s foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov.
Apart from that, he is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, such a meetin is being prepared.
Bolton’s visit has a special importance on the background of his country’s plans to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty).
