German Chancellor Angela Merkel received on Sunday visiting US President Barack Obama at the Herrenhausen palace in Hannover.

The two leaders are expected to discuss the situation in Syria, the Ukrainian crisis and the anti-terror war.

Obama is set to open a Hannover-based industrial technological fair, in which the US was chosen as a guest of honor.
