The UAE - led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan - is scaling up its efforts to assist the friendly people of Afghanistan by providing humanitarian and developmental aid that deliver health, educational and social services, said His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, during a meeting with President Mohammed Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistan, at Al Bahr Palace on Wednesday.
The Afghan President is in the UAE to attend the opening of the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and President Ghani discussed prospects for joint co-operation in areas of economic development, and reconstruction and development efforts in Afghanistan.
The two parties also tackled a wide range of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
President Ghani thanked the UAE for its efforts to support the Afghani people and launching diverse humanitarian and developmental projects to help them cope with the difficult circumstances they were experiencing.
He congratulated Sheikh Mohamed on the opening of the Louvre museum.
A number of Sheikhs and ministers as well as the delegation accompanying the Afghan President attended the meeting.
