Mohamed bin Zayed receives ICRC President

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi on Monday Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, who is currently visiting the UAE.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed the ICRC President and discussed with him topics related to joint cooperation between the UAE and the international organisation on humanitarian and development fields and on coordinating the delivery of humanitarian aid provided by the UAE to the affected countries.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed emphasised that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen on implementing development, healthcare and educational programmes around the world, in line with its approach to humanitarian giving and relief for the needy people.

Maurer highlighted the ICRC's activities around the world and its strategies for tackling various humanitarian crises. He applauded the UAE for its continuous support to humanitarian relief operations and for its swift response to the appeals for relief, in addition to its development programmes in several countries, especially in the areas of healthcare and education.
