His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received President Yoweri Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, at Al Shati Palace this evening.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed the Ugandan President and his delegation, expressing the hope that the visit would contribute to strengthening the friendly relations and co-operation between the two countries.
Both sides discussed mutual co-operation and friendship, as well as the means to support and develop them in various fields, especially in the economic, investment, commercial, developmental and energy areas.
During the meeting, which was attended by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, there was a presentation on the opportunities and common capabilities of both the countries to strengthen the bilateral co-operation between them and develop it to achieve the aspirations of both countries’ leadership of taking their relations to advanced levels and serving their mutual interests.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed stressed the efforts being made by the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to expand its relations with all the friendly countries, according to the principles of mutual trust, common respect and understanding.
He pointed out that what brought the UAE and Uganda together were their firm relations and growing friendship, which would serve the aspirations of both countries to build a strong and diverse economic and trading partnership.
The Ugandan President expressed his happiness at visiting the UAE while stressing his country’s desire to strengthen and develop their co-operation, especially in economic and investment areas.
During the meeting, there was also a discussion on regional and international events and developments and the global efforts spent to fight extremism and terrorism while the participants exchanged their opinions on several issues of common interest.
The meeting was attended by Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; Jassem Mohammed Bu Otaba Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, and Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, as well as other officials.
From the Ugandan side, the attendees were Irene Muloni, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development; Lt Gen. Henry Tumukunde, Minister of National Security; Henry Oryem Okello, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Evelyn Anite, State Minister for Investment and Privatisation in the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development; Animisha Jayant Madvani, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the UAE, and a number of officials.
