President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Said bin Mohammed Al Fihani received Resident Coordinator of the UN activities and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Amine Al Sharqawi, in the presence of NIHR Deputy President Abdullah Ahmed Al Derazi .
Al Fihani thanked the UNDP Resident Representative for the visit, voicing the institution's keenness on boosting cooperation between both sides. In light of the training session which was held in Istanbul last year on the sustainable development goals, both sides also discussed training members of the new Board of Commissioners and the Secretariat General staff on NIHR's role in achieving the goals which is considered a key step in achieving the UN's 2030 agenda.
The UNDP is the United Nations' global development network which operates in 177 countries and provinces. In Bahrain, it provides technical support and assistance to the national institutions, the private sector and the Civil Society institutions to achieve national priorities and tackle challenges.
