Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Amin Madani met with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh shoukry on boosting the international efforts for resuming the Palestinian peace process.
Met on the sidelines of the two preparatory meetings for the Organization of Islamic countries’ (OIC) 5th emergency summit, to be kicked of today in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, Madani and shoukry reviewed boosting ties and cooperation, the latest regional developments, including supporting the Palestinians and the efforts of bringing out reconciliation among Palestinian facts, along with pushing forward the international mobility for resuming the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
Earlier, Madani met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, as they considered the importance of yielding tangible and practical results serving the Palestinian cause during the current summit in Jakarta.
They discussed the French initiative for resuming the negotiations, as Abbas stressed the Palestinian approval for its terms.
The summit will tackle the situation in Al Quds in light of continued Israeli attacks on Al Aqsa Mosque and steps to be taken by the OIC to help the Palestinians and address deteriorating economic conditions there.
