Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with the French Senate President Gerard Archer where they reviewed bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Palestinian territories.
During the meeting, Abbas highlighted the importance of the international peace conference, scheduled to be held in Paris on 15th of this month, in reviving the political process through an international mechanism and a timetable for implementation.
He pointed out the Palestinian side will cooperate with France to ensure the success of the international conference, while praising the efforts of President Francois Hollande and his willingness to hold the conference to underline the international terms of reference with regard to the political process.
The French Senate president confirmed his country's continued support for the political process based on the principle of a two-state solution, pointing out that the international conference in Paris will be an opportunity to launch a real political process supported by the international community.
