Prime Minister Sherif Ismail held an urgent meeting with the ministers of housing, interior, electricity, Awqaf, irrigation, transport and local development and a representative of the defense ministry to evaluate the progress achieved on a project to overhaul level crossings nationwide.
Meanwhile, during a meeting with Chairman of the Egyptian National Railways Ahmed Hamed Moussa, the prime minister said the truth about this morning’s train accident on the Cairo-Assiut rail line should be revealed transparently to the public opinion after a technical report on the cause is issued.
For his part, Hamed said he submitted a report to the premier showing that he ordered the formation of a legal technical committee to investigate the train accident and reveal its causes, noting that the committee will hand over the report within 48 hours.
Earlier, the Health Ministry said six people were killed and three injured when the train crashed into a truck at Al Ayyat city in Giza governorate.
