Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov held bilateral meetings with a number of officials on the sidelines of the international conference on Libya, currently held in Rome.

Gatilov met with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.

He told reporters that his meeting with Shoukry focused on means to politically settle the Syrian crisis.

The Libya conference kicked off in the Italian capital Sunday night.
