Egyptian FM Sameh Shoukry

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held talks with his Dutch counterpart Albert Koenders on means of bolstering cooperation between the two countries in the various fields, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel Aati.

The meeting was held before the Egyptian top diplomat wrapped up his visit to New York City where he took part in a Review Conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Talks covered a set of regional and international files of common interest, especially the dangers of terrorism and the necessity of bolstering cooperation at the regional and international levels to uproot it.

The two ministers also probed the situation in Libya and its repercussions on the neighboring countries, illegal immigration and the efforts exerted by UN envoy Bernandino Lion on working out a political solution in Libya.

They also addressed the Palestinian issue, the importance of relaunching peace talks according to the international terms of reference, the outcome of the review conference on NPT, the importance of freeing the Middle East region from weapons of mass destruction according to a resolution issued in 1995.
