Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, currently in Washington, had talks with Wendy R. Sherman, the adviser of US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
The meeting falls within the framework of maintaining contacts with US presidential candidates, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Thursday.
They had frank discussions and expressed mutual desire to promote Egyptian-American relations, he said.
Sherman said if Clinton wins the elections, she will work on enhancing ties with Egypt.
Sherman listened to Shoukry's assessment of the political and economic developments in Egypt as well as Egypt's regional and international ties, the economic conditions and Egypt's anti-terror efforts.
