Foreign minister Barnaba marial benjamin

Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday conferred separately at the African Union premises with South Sudan chief negotiator Nhial Deng and Foreign Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin on the fringe of his participation at the 26th African Union Summit.

Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Youssef said Deng reviewed with the Egyptian president the latest developments as regards the peaceful settlement of the South Sudan crisis that was signed in August 2015.

He also voiced appreciation for Egypt's support to South Sudan in regional and international fora along with the development programs presented by Egypt to South Sudan in various fields.

The South Sudanese negotiator also voiced hope over increasing cooperation with Egypt in the various fields, said the spokesman.

Sisi also asserted that Egypt backed all efforts exerted to restore peace and stability to South Sudan, highlighting the deeply-rooted ties and relations binding the two countries, added the spokesman.

The Egyptian president also reiterated that Egypt backed all efforts of national reconciliation in order to launch an interim government to work on restoring security and stability to South Sudan, adding that Egypt is looking forward to see the success of South Sudan leaders to reach understandings to launch a new phase where development could be achieved.
