Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Tuesday with Iraqi Defense Minister Khaled al Obeidi in Cairo.
The meeting was attended by Egyptian Defense Minister Sedqi Sobhi.
Obeidi conveyed the greetings of the Iraqi leadership to President Sisi and stressed deeply-rooted relations between the two countries, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said.
He also praised the significant role played by Egypt to maintain Iraq's security and stability.
Iraq is keen on bolstering ties with Egypt in the military field, Obeidi said.
Sisi asked the Iraqi defense minister to convey his greetings to the Iraqi leadership and people, stressing Egypt's support for efforts exerted by the Iraqi army to fight Daesh terrorist group.
He also stressed the importance of continuing cooperation between the two countries to face regional threats.
