Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received here on Thursday French Interior Minister Gérard Collomb, the Egyptian presidential spokesman said.
During the meeting, the two sides tackled means of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in view of the challenges besetting the Middle East and the growing danger of terrorism worldwide, Alaa Youssef said.
Collomb hailed the Egyptian-French ties, commending the role played by Egypt to realize peace and stability in the Middle East region.
He stressed France's support for Egypt in the face of terrorism.
Meanwhile, Sisi underlined that Egypt is adamant to proceed with confronting terrorism, citing the efforts exerted in this respect at all levels.
The president reviewed Egypt's vision vis-a-vis counter-terrorism strategy which includes cultural, economic and social dimensions alongside the military and security ones.
Sisi stressed the importance of pooling up international efforts to uproot terrorism and its sponsors.
The talks also tackled means of fostering bilateral cooperation in the security domain as well as the latest developments in Libya and Syria.
Sisi exhorted the international community to intensify efforts to clinch political solutions for regional crises which are the main reason behind illegal immigration.
He highlighted the importance of continued coordination to combat illegal immigration.
