Tunisan President Beji Caid Essebsi met in New York on Wednesday night with IMF Chief Christine Lagarde on the sidelines of American-African Economic Forum.
Lagarde said the IMF supports Tunisia as it proceeds with its reform and opens new vistas for development.
Earlier, in New York Essebsi renewed calls for international support for a plan that would see Tunisia receive $22 billion over a period of five years to stabilize its socio-economic standing.
Essebsi and Lagarde are in New York for the 71st UN General Assembly meeting in New York.
