The United Nations (UN) Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura arrived in Cairo coming from New York on a visit to Egypt where he will meet with a number of officials to discuss the latest Syrian developments.

De Mistura is carrying out a tour in the region in the coming hours taking him also to Qatar, according to diplomatic sources.

The UN envoy will meet with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to probe means of solving the Syrian crisis and the outcome of the Syrian opposition meeting held in Cairo.
