The Works Affairs Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Eng. Ahmed Al Khayyat received at his office representative to Muharraq’s Governorate’s 5th Constituency Mohammed Khalifa Al Hirz, in the presence of a number of engineers from the Ministry.
During the meeting, reference was made to the different needs of the Constituency, which included paving and revamping a number of roads, constructing speed humps, and dividing some roads using rubber columns to prevent vehicles overriding other vehicles on the opposite direction. The meeting also highlighted a number of future projects, which included expansion of some roads and construction of storm water drainage networks.
The meeting also referred to storm water accumulation locations in the area, which the Undersecretary previously inspected, and shed light on methods taken to avoid water accumulation during the upcoming rainy season and the Ministry’s emergency plan and preparation for the rainy season.
Al Khayyat explained that all storm water accumulation locations have been detected, for which the closest water outlet has been determined, and that preventive maintenance works have been applied to storm water drainage networks throughout the year. Also, manpower and equipment have been dedicated for dealing with water accumulation issues, where pumps and tanks have been put in place for this purpose.
