Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi met here Wednesday with US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Anne Patterson.
The meeting was attended by the US Ambassador to Yemen Matthew Tueller.
The get-together took up the bilateral relations, the latest developments in Yemen, efforts exerted to achieve peace based on the Gulf initiative and the outcome of the national dialogue, according to the Yemeni news agency.
Hadi stressed his keenness on achieving peace, putting an end to war and destruction to cease blood shed, adding that this war that was triggered by the Houthis who destroyed state institutions as well as properties, besieged cities and killed innocent people.
He further said that the state figures went to Kuwait to maintain permanent peace, create a new future for Yemen and resume the political process, hailing the efforts exerted by the US and the international community for supporting constitutional legitimacy in the violence-hit Arab country.
For her part, Patterson underscored that her meeting with Hadi aims at achieving peace which fulfill the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
She reiterated that Kuwait shoulders the responsibility of halting the suffering of the Yemeni people and resuming work in state institutions.
