Abu Dhabi - WAM
Emirates Policy Center will organise on Sunday, 6th March, a roundtable workshop on the shifts in Iran’s political landscape following the signing of the nuclear deal and the latest legislative elections in the country.
The workshop, which will be held at Jumeirah Hotel at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, basically aims to highlight the latest developments in Iran, notably the signing of the nuclear deal with P5+1 group of world powers in July 2015, as well as elections for the Assembly of Experts and the Consultative Council which took place last month.
Dr. Ebtesam Al-Ketbi, President of Emirates Policy Center (EPC), said that the workshop seeks to examine the map of actors in Iran’s current political landscape and the reflections of the initial implementation of the nuclear deal and lifting of international sanctions on the internal political struggle between various factions within the Iranian regime.
"The workshop will also try to carefully read the outcomes of the latest elections and draw potential scenarios for future trends and trajectories of the Iranian regime," Dr. Al Ketbi added.
A selection of GCC and Arab experts and specialists in Iranian affairs will participate in the important gathering including Dr. Mohammad Al- of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Sultan Al Nuaimi from the UAE along among other prominent scholars, Al Ketbi noted.
She also pointed out that the EPC is keen to address this issue in a roundtable discussion to provide an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of these shifts in Iran through providing a venue for exchanging opinions and viewpoints on this subject.
Al-Ketbi said that GCC countries in general and the UAE in particular, are keen on closely monitoring all developments and shifts in Iran. "Therefore, organising this workshop comes in line with the EPC’s goal to understand Iran as is, while the event will also emphasise the EPC’s role as the sole think-tank in the region with primary focus on Iranian affairs."
