German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Berlin on Tuesday, German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said Friday.

The talks between the two leaders will tackle latest developments on the Israeli-Palestinian arena and ways for pushing the peace process forward.

Abbas called on the Muslim countries, during the meetings of the OIC, held in Istanbul on Thursday, to provide a protection for the Palestinian state.
