Bahrain will host the Fourth International Conference and Exhibition on Laboratory Technology (LabTech 2017), themed “Transforming Laboratory Proficiency into a Core Value”.
The event, patronised by Oil Minister, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, will be held on November 7-9.
The 4th LabTech conference is being organised by the Saudi Arabian International Chemical Sciences Chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS), the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu and ASTM International, in coordination with the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), among others.
The High Organising Committee includes representatives of Aaudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco), SABIC, the GCC Standardisation Organization (GSO), Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Kuwait International Petroleum Research Centre, University of Nizwa and Saudi Chevron.
Saudi Aramco, BAPCO, Naizak and Saudi Chevron are the Platinum sponsors of the event, while Schlumberger, Weatherford and Labware are the Gold sponsors, and Halliburton, Qapco and SGS are the Silver sponsors.
The event will attract over 600 experts and oil companies’ representatives from Saudi Arabia, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and other countries.
It will provide an industrial and academic platform for researchers from all over the world to convene in Kingdom of Bahrain and showcase their latest scientific discoveries in the areas of work force development, quality, health, safety and environment management.
Keynote speakers during the executive plenary sessions include mainly Mr. Suleman Al-Bargan, Executive Director of Refining & NGL Fractionation Saudi Aramco, Prof. Peter K. Dorhout, 2017 ACS-Chair Elect, Dr. Joseph Stokes, Head of School of Mech. & Manufact. Eng. in Dublin City University, Prof. Safa George, EX-VP Catalyst Technology Shell, US, Prof. Abdullah Mohammed Asiri, Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, KAU & CEAMR, Prof. Carsten Schwandt, National Chair of Materials Sc. & Metallurgy Distinguished Visiting Fellow, University of Nizwa & Cambridge, UK, and Mr. Ahmed Al-Mutairi, Director General of the GCC Standardisation Organization (GSO).
Rgarding the exhibition, many specilised companies will showcase their latest . They include mainly Saudi Aramco, Bapco, Naizak, Schlumberger and Weatherford.
Lab Tech 2017 is held in Bahrain after the outstanding success of the third edition hosted by the kingdom in 2014.
It is in line with the government’s keenness on making the Kingdom of Bahrain a regional centre for specialised conferences and exhibitions.
It is also based on NOGA’s strategy and the directives of the Oil Minister to attract events that spur the national economy.
