Head of the Iranian Interior Ministry's Election Headquarters Ali Asqar Ahmadi announced that enrollment of Iran's presidential candidates will start on April 11 and will last for six days, FARS news agency.
"The presidential candidates can enroll for presidential elections on April 11-16," Ahmadi said.
The 12th presidential election and also the 5th elections for the city and village councils as well as the parliamentary run-off for some constituencies will be held on May 19.
The incumbent President Hassan Rouhani has said he will stand for the 12th presidential election in Iran.
In remarks earlier in March, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei asked the entire Iranian nation to show massive turnout in the upcoming presidential election on May 19.
Addressing a large gathering of Iranian people at the sacred shrine of Imam Ali Ibn Musa al-Reza (AS) in the Eastern city of Mashhad, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the importance of public participation in the upcoming presidential election.
"What is primarily important for this humble being is your taking part in the election. All those who can vote should participate in the election; this is our primary and most important request," he said.
Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized the importance of actions based on the law and said, "On the issue of elections, the exact requirements of the law should be acted upon. Therefore, whatever the result may be, it will be valid. It will be legal."
