Cairo Airport authorities arrested on Sunday lawmaker Khaled Youssef with 10 strips of the Xanax drug in possession, security sources at the airport said.

The X ray luggage inspection machine detected tightly sealed objects inside Youssef's luggage while he was finalizing travel procedures to France, the sources said.

Airport officers opened the luggage to find ten strips containing 100 tablets of the Xanax drug.

Tramadol and Xanax are among restricted medicines in Egypt unless prescribed by doctors.
