Talk about putting the ‘wow’ into the Dhow.
Five-star resort Six Senses Zighy Bay recently completed a luxury overhaul of one of Oman’s iconic traditional crafts to offer guests a unique experience.
Designed for sailing comfort ‘Dhahab,’ a beautifully restored classic Omani Dhow, is a 90 feet (27 metres) seafaring vessel, capable of cruising the spectacular Musandam fjords at a comfortable 10 knots.
Accommodating up to six guests in three well-appointed cabins (one king and two twins), the experience is designed for families or groups of friends seeking a mini getaway. It consists of a central air-conditioned saloon, two sun decks, multiple dining areas and a large open galley.
Offering a three-day, two-night tailor-made itinerary, Dhahab explores from Zighy Bay up the coast of Musandam past remote fishing villages, secluded bays bursting with marine life to rest in a few private bays surrounded by spectacular rugged mountains.
The vessel is equipped with kayaks, fishing and diving equipment, a butler service, as well as a speedboat for additional exploration. Aaron McGrath, general manager at Six Senses Zighy Bay said, “We are thrilled to launch this beautifully restored classic Dhow for our guests at Six Senses Zighy Bay. “We are committed to offering unforgettable memories, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy this breathtaking experience.”
